Upcoming Scholarship Opportunities
Applications for scholarships will be available from February 1st through March 20th, 2023.
Scholarships Available for Graduating High School Seniors:
JACK EBERHARD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be graduating from Hancock, Houghton, Calumet, Baraga, or L’Anse schools and have participated in high school golf.
FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP: Preference will be given to applicants who are members of Faith Lutheran Church and those who are entering the seminary.
RICHARD AND CLARA FEDEWA SCHOLARSHIP: Available to female graduating seniors who are members of the St. Ignatius parish.
BERNARD F. GAFFNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to graduating seniors (and past graduates) of Houghton-Portage High School.
GARY HEIKENEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to Keweenaw County residents pursuing higher education.
RONALD AND LOU ELLYN HELMAN SCHOLARSHIP: Open to students who have taken CTE courses in high school, pursuing skilled trades and hands-on fields such as automotive, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, secretarial, nursing, etc.
HOUGHTON ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants must be graduating from Houghton-Portage High School, and should be dedicated to community service.
STUART FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP: Applicants should be outstanding seniors at Houghton-Portage High School, intending on attending a public university in Michigan.
SEAN M. WILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to KBIC members and descendants attending Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College. Preference will be given to those in the Liberal Studies or Anishnaabe Studies programs.
Scholarships Available for College Students and Continuing Education:
ALEC FISHER SCHOLARSHIP: Open to students attending Michigan Technological University, who will be Junior level or above, studying Environmental Engineering or Management Information Systems.
BERNARD F. GAFFNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to graduates of Houghton-Portage High School, attending any university or accredited institution.
GARY HEIKENEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to residents of Keweenaw County pursuing higher education.
HEIKENEN NURSING SCHOLARSHIP: Open to Registered Nurses to obtain new clinical knowledge and skills to improve nursing care in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties. Training programs must take place outside of the Upper Peninsula.
SEAN M. WILLIAMS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Open to KBIC members and descendants attending Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College. Preference will be given to those in the Liberal Studies or Anishnaabe Studies programs.
Music Scholarship:
ANTHONY AND PATRICIA STARK SCHOLARSHIP: Open to elementary and middle school students studying with the Copper Country Suzuki Association, or other Suzuki method string instrument programs.
