All About Grants: Recap and What's Next in KCF's Nonprofit Education Series

Grow and Lead: Community Youth Development, facilitated the workshop, All About Grants, on May 7, 2024.

On May 7th, the Keweenaw Community Foundation (KCF) launched its inaugural nonprofit education and networking series event, "All About Grants." The training session was facilitated by Grow and Lead: Community Youth Development and explored a comprehensive range of grant writing and management essentials. Topics covered included identifying suitable grants, budgeting, program planning/logic models, grant management, and reporting.

The event attracted over twenty participants, including representatives from local nonprofit organizations, municipality leaders, and individual community members eager to enhance their understanding of grants. Attendees had the opportunity to provide session feedback, which helped KCF learn more about how to meet the community’s needs and what topics to explore in future sessions.

"I really enjoyed the workshop - All About Grants. It was a great beginner overview of the grant writing process, and I found the information very helpful. The networking session was a wonderful way to meet other like-minded people. I'm looking forward to the next one in the series,” stated attendee Gini Gesler.

If you could not attend the session in person, you can watch the video recording and view the presentation slides. The video recording does not include a presentation view, so you will need to reference the presentation slides as you watch the recording.

About KCF’s Nonprofit Education and Networking Series

Thanks to the Keweenaw Community Foundation's sponsorship, this nonprofit education and networking event series is free to everyone. It aims to provide an educational platform for individuals interested in gaining insight into nonprofit topics. Nonprofit staff, board members, volunteers, and interested community members are encouraged to participate. In addition to educational topics, these events will provide a space for networking and meeting others doing great work in our community.

“It was great to see such a great turnout from a diverse range of organizations. We are anxious to learn more about what types of topics and additional ways we can provide resources and support to our community,” stated Robin Meneguzzo, KCF’s Executive Director.

Future sessions are scheduled for late afternoons in August, November, and February. The next session will be Tuesday, August 6th, with details on time and location to be announced once finalized. This next session will be a deeper dive into grants, building on the topics discussed in the first session.
