JOB SUMMARY
The Program and Community Engagement Manager is a dynamic role focused on managing the Keweenaw Community Foundation's (KCF) programs, strengthening community engagement, and fostering collaborations. This position involves overseeing grants and scholarships, supporting youth leadership, and building relationships with nonprofits and community groups. The ideal candidate is passionate about community development, highly organized, and thrives in collaborative environments. The Program and Community Engagement Manager will report directly to the Executive Director.

The Keweenaw Community Foundation (KCF), based in Hancock, Michigan, has been a permanent charitable resource for Houghton and Keweenaw Counties since 1994. Dedicated to enhancing the community's quality of life, KCF supports a wide range of initiatives and partnerships that address local needs and opportunities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
As the Program and Community Engagement Manager, you will:

  • Program Management: Oversee KCF programs, ensuring they address community needs and advance our mission.

  • Community Engagement: Foster and strengthen relationships with grantees, community groups, and partners, representing KCF at events to promote collaboration.

  • Grantmaking and Scholarships: Manage the grant and scholarship processes, including application review, award distribution, and reporting.

  • Program Evaluation: Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, using data and feedback to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.

  • Youth Leadership: Advise the KCF Youth Advisory Council (YAC), empowering local youth through philanthropy and leadership development.

  • Administrative Support: Coordinate schedules, meetings, and notes while supporting KCF staff in community collaborations.

  • Special Projects: Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff on strategic initiatives and assigned tasks to further KCF’s impact.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Growth mindset and a strong desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in nonprofit program management, grant writing, or event coordination.

  • Proficiency in donor management software and social media platforms is preferred to enhance community outreach efforts.

  • Familiarity with the Houghton and Keweenaw Counties community and its unique needs.

SCHEDULE

  • Hours: 30-40 hours per week

  • Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position with flexible work arrangements, including a mix of remote and in-office hours

  • Core Hours: Work is typically conducted during KCF's operational office hours (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.), with occasional evening or weekend events as required

  • Location: The position is based in Hancock, Michigan, with in-office work required to support collaboration and community engagement
