04/17/2024 | April Heartlands Project Updates
It was great to see so many familiar faces, and a few new ones, at our March 12 Heartlands Project update in Allouez Township. We appreciate the thoughtful questions from those in attendance.
During the meeting, The Nature Conservancy provided updates on the development of a local forest governance entity, resources management plan, and forest business plan, all of which have been underway with intensive involvement from subcommittees of community members. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources also shared an update on its plans to purchase approximately 10,000 acres of the Heartlands adjacent to Fort Wilkins Historic State Park.
If you missed the meeting, you can view a recording and scroll the PowerPoint presentation here. You are always welcome to send thoughts, questions or concerns to keweenaw@tnc.org.
