The primary purpose of this field of interest fund is to support programs and activities that are designed to serve youth in the Portage Lake area.
GRANTS
Each year the Portage Lake Youth Fund requests proposals for youth programs and projects to support through a granting process. Please visit the Field of Interest grant page to see if the fund is currently accepting proposals and more information about the latest opportunity. Grants are available to local, tax exempt organizations supporting programs and activities that are designed to serve youth of the Portage Lake area. This geographical region includes Chassell, Dollar Bay, Hancock, Houghton, and South Range.
In 2022, the Community Alliance for Progressive Education (CAPE) received a $2,000.00 grant from the Portage Lake Youth Fund for its Makerspace program, in addition to a grant from the Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund.
In 2019 a total of $2,861.20 was granted to BHK Child Development Board for the Meraki Youth Art Festival.
In 2018 a total of $2789.83 was granted to the Houghton Skatepark project
