“We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
– Romans 5:1

Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) which is characterized as theologically conservative and is the third largest Lutheran church body in America.

Our mission is to spread the gospel of Christ, to gather college students and the local community into a family of believers, and to share the message of hope and the promise of salvation through grace.

The roots of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church go back to 1969, when at the request of students, the WELS began to do campus ministry work at Michigan Technological University. An MTU registered student organization, “Lutheran Collegians” was started, and that organization remains active to this day. In 1978, a Campus House and Chapel was built on the church’s current location. In the mid 1980’s, Peace Ev. Lutheran Church was formally organized. And in 1992, the chapel was constructed by volunteers from the “Builders for Christ” program of WELS.

The message of hope that we share is one that is illustrated by our church’s logo, a logo designed by a student that participated in our Campus Ministry. In our logo, the dove symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The Spirit brings us God’s peace by bringing us to faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. Sharing that peace is what our congregation and our Lutheran Collegians are all about. We’d love to share God’s peace with you.
