Keweenaw Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council Sponsors Family Fun at the Rozsa’s Muppet Christmas Carol Film Screening Pre-Party

YAC Members at the Rozsa’s pre-party event on December 14, 2024.

The Keweenaw Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) brought holiday cheer to the Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts by sponsoring a delightful pre-party for families attending the Muppet Christmas Carol film screening. The event on December 14th allowed local youth and families to come together for an evening of festive fun and community spirit.

YAC members helped fund the event and hosted and managed activity stations to entertain and engage young attendees. These activities included:

  • Cookie Decorating: Families enjoyed designing delicious treats to add sweetness to the season.

  • Pin the Nose on the Snowman: A fun twist on a classic party game for kids of all ages.

  • Letters to Santa: Children had the chance to write their wishes to Santa, spreading the magic of the holidays.

  • Jingle Bell Toss: Children had the chance to toss jingle bells into three present boxes to win a prize.

YAC helped families decorate holiday cookies at the Rozsa’s pre-party event on December 14, 2024.

The pre-party was part of the Rozsa’s Muppet Christmas Carol film screening, a beloved holiday classic. This event was made possible, in part, through a $3,000 grant from KCF’s Kellogg Youth Endowment Fund. The grant supported the Rozsa’s mission to create memorable family events and foster a love for the arts among local youth.

“I want to give YAC a shoutout for how amazing they were in pulling together plans for the Holiday Nostalgia pre-party and how wonderfully the team led the event! The public was super engaged in the activities, and having a personal touch with friendly students there to help and be a part of creating the experience couldn’t have gone better. YAC members were organized and engaging, making the event much better than it would have been without their support. Thanks a million! The event sponsorship is also greatly appreciated!” said Hannah Rundman Lowney, Guest Services Manager, Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts.

I loved being a part of the pre-party as it gave me the opportunity to help bring Christmas cheer to our small community. From Christmas cookies to snowflake ornaments, seeing the joy on the kid’s faces made the whole night worth it. I appreciate the generosity of the Rozsa Center for allowing us to host this.
