2/14/24 | February Keweenaw Heartlands Updates
Keweenaw County is asking for the public to provide feedback on the county’s early planning for an Emergency Operations Center. Residents can fill out an online survey, attend a public meeting, or both. The survey is available online through February 23 and should take just 5 minutes to complete.
The public meeting is planned for Wednesday, February 21, from 5 – 6 PM The meeting will be held prior to the County Commission meeting at the Keweenaw County Courthouse, 5105 4th Street in Eagle River.
This first round of public feedback follows an announcement by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s (LEO) Office of Rural Prosperity that Keweenaw County will be awarded a $50,000 Rural Readiness Grant to support initial visioning and planning processes for the Emergency Operations Center.
The Keweenaw Community Foundation and The Nature Conservancy in Michigan were co-applicants with Keweenaw County on this grant.
