2016 Faith Lutheran Church Scholarship Recipients Announced

Two Scholarships Totaling $3460 Awarded to Graduating Local Seniors

Calumet, Michigan—Two Faith Lutheran Church Scholarships were presented Sunday, May 22 at Senior Recognition Day at the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet. Daniel Dyl received a $1,560 scholarship and Arthur Lyons received a $1,900 scholarship. Daniel, a graduate of Calumet High School, will be attending the University of Northwestern Ohio to study auto/diesel mechanics. Arthur, a graduate of Lake Linden-Hubbell High School, will be attending Michigan Tech University to study actuarial science.

Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet has scholarships available to recipients based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership potential, community involvement, and financial need. Preference is given to applicants who are members of Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet and who are entering the seminary. Applicants going into other fields and from other Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) churches are considered. The scholarships are used to cover tuition, or for fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for courses at the college for the academic year 2016-2017.

The scholarships are supported through an endowment at the Keweenaw Community Foundation. Individuals looking to donate can contribute to the Faith Lutheran Church Scholarship endowment online at www.keweenawgives.org.
